Our FLavorfuL Heritage
Mike’s Ice Cream Factory was opened in 1955 by John Schairer. He retired in 1968 and sold the business to Roy and Ruth Tillman who changed the name to Big Dip. The Tillman’s ran the business for 10 years, selling to Polly Kachmarik in 1978. She sold it to Donna and Joe Stenzel after a 19 year run.
Joe and Donna retired in 2021 when they sold Big Dip to the Penizotto family who also owns and operates Peter's Polar Parlor in Camillus and Sno-Top Ice Cream in Manlius. Big Dip’s daily operations are run by Christy Penizotto, along with the rest of the family.
